2. FINAL PROJECT: STOP MOTION
2.1 3 Favourite Stop Motion Videos
During Week 1, Mr Martin tasked as to share our 3 favourite Stop Motion
Videos.
2.1.1 Stop Motion Video 1
Video 1
Link to video
This is a very cute stop-motion animation which the main character comes from
a Japanese Manga series called Chiikawa. While watching it, I feel very
therapeutic. All object in the video are made from wool felting. The
transition between the video clips are very smooth escpecilly when the author
pour the water into the flowerpot.

2.2 Proposal
For the stop-motion, we were given the choice to form groups of 2 to make a 1
min stop-motion film or do it individually to make a 30-second film. I choose
to partner up with Ying Ying for this task.
Before starting up the whole thing, we had an online meeting on Week 11 to
discuss what we're going to do for the Stop Motion video.

Through this online meeting, we have decided the synopsis and medium for this
stop motion project.
After the grouping and first discussion, we then start to answered the
questions in the proposal that was provided by Mr Martin. We decided to do
"Nail It" for our working tittle.

as the equipment.

2.3 Props making
Once we finnished the storyboard sketches in ibisPaint X and uploaded them to
Google Drive, Ying Ying then compile them into a PDF file and printed them at the
stationery shop located at school. After that, we cut out the printed sketches
for the production shoot.

During that time, Ying Ying have also prepared a
Google Spreadsheet
listing raw materials like voice-over, sound effects, background effects, and
more. This helped us to prevent getting lost during the production shoot and
post- production. We might make some changes depends on the situation while we
conduct the production shoot and post-production since this was only a guide.
Listing of Raw Materials (PDF Version)
After we were done listing the raw materials, we started to download the sound
effects and music, and we also finnsihed the voice recording to our roles. My
role in this stop motion was the Customer (Character A). We uploaded the raw
materials to the
Google Drive.

2.5 Editing
- Ying Ying: Trimming, syncing voiceovers, and adding sound effcects and music.
- Tze Wei (Me): Adding subtittles and colour correction.
First, Ying Ying imported the videos and voiceovers to trim and sync the audio. Then, she realised that some of the voiceovers were longer than expected, and some shots could flow better. As a result, she rearranged the video sequences and deleted some parts of the audio.

Next, Ying Ying added the sound effects and music to the video.
Figure 2.6 Sound effects and Musics
She used the Essential Sound menu to edit the audio elements - Voiceovers, Sound effects, and music (ensuring clarity and organisation).
Figure 2.7 Essential Sound
For certain shots, the voiceovers were intended for special occasions, such as inner monologues or dramatic scenes, so I edited them in Adobe Audition.

After Ying Ying finnished her part, she uploaded the file to Google Drive
for me to continue addding subtittles and colour correction. As I finnished
downloaded the files, I started to do the colour correction to the video
clips.

Lastly, I added subtittles to the video clips.

4. REFLECTION
Stop Motion was a good experience. It was quite daunting having to do a stop-motion video, this is something I had never done before. Making and filming the Stop Motion would be a fun task if it wasn't graded and I was on a rush time with different module deadline TT. I enjoyed the task, but because og the time limit and other assignments, we had to film the video in such limited time, I very grateful my partner, Ying Ying, which she has helped me a lot on this assignment (>3<), it leads us editing the video together wasn't that hard.
Overall, this task was so far so good, but would I do this again? Probably no hahaaha.
