1. Compilation of Submission

1.1  Task 01: Exercise 01 and Exercise 02

For Exercise 01, we were given 8 words, which are "Smoke; Soup; Spooky; Power; Impact; Crunch; Drunk; Fold", we need to choose 4 out of these 8 words to create 4 logo and create a GIF animation form the 4 logo using Adobe Photoshop. Throughout this exercise we are not allowed to do many distortion of any letters, and also not encourage to use too many graphical elements. But can rotate, flip or scale them properly. No colour may be use inside this exercise, and we only can use the 10 fonts that provided by our lecturer, Mr Vinod.

For Exercise 02, we have to create a final layout of text formatting, working with typefaces, type size, leading, line length, etc. Before that, we have to learn and work with kerning and tracking. Mr Vinod has provided us sone pre-recorded lecture videos for us.

1.3  Task 03: Typographic Design and Communication

We are asked to deisgned a limited number of Western (Latin) alphabets, which are "O L E D S N C H T I G , . ! #" or "o l e d  s n c h t i g , . ! #" (choose either uppercase or lowercase). After finnish constructing of the letters, we need to use the letters to create a A4 size with just only Black and White poster. We are required to watch the demo videos before begining this task.

2. Reflection

2.1  Experience

Typography is a really new thing to me. This module was challenging initially due to my limited knowledge of Typography and week background in arts. I really took some time adapting to it and luckily it went well. At this module, I learn the mindset of being a good designer, and some useful software skills from my lecture, Mr Vinod and also from my coursemate, it is very useful to me as a newbie designer. Overall, I find this module quite fun and challenging while exploring new things to complete the task assigned by Mr Vinod. Of course, I have also encountered failure and setbacks, but I really tried my best to improve myself.

2.2  Observation

After learning this module, Typography, I noticed that I would observe the types on the street, on social media, and also the layout for the poster, kerning between the letters, it is very crazy but I think that's a designer should be maybe..hehe 😂
This module helps me observe and analyze the details I wouldn't have noticed before, it also has improved my observational skills so much. This has benefited me a lot because it has brought me one step closer to becoming a good designer. Feedbacks from Mr Vinod is very useful, it helps me improve everytime.

2.3  Finding

We know that Typography is about type, but the conventions and nuances behind the type are not widely known, so we need to learn Typography and understand them. Overall, I am quite satisfed with my efforts throughout this module, as I complete all of the task assigned by Mr Vinod and I really really tried my best to do so. The most meaningful thing is that I really learned a lot and gain improvement on my task throughout the module. Although sometimes I really feel frustrated because of failure while doing the task, but I take it as a reference and learned.
