Week 02 Lecture Note
Lecture Note Week 02:
- Introduction to basic compositions
- Rules of third
- Golden ratio
- Composition framing and cropping.
Introduction to basic compositions:
-
Focal point
- It helps viewer's eyes naturally settle on the important pieces of our design. -
Scale and Hierarchy
- drawing attention toward and away from certain elements. -
Balance the elements
- each element as having a "weight" to it. -
White space
- Mostly known as "empthy space" to balance up the main focus of a composition.
- It can help to boost our design's clarity and overall look by balancing out the more complicated part.
- Helps our design to breathe.
Figure 2.2 Example of white space
Rule of thirds:
- The process of dividing an image into thirds, using two horizontal and two vertical lines.
- Position the most important elements of images at these intersection point, will produce a much more natural image
- Is a way to use composition techniques that are in line with what's naturally pleasing to the eye.
- Creatively use negative space.
- Create conversation between the subject and background.
Figure 2.3 Rule of thirds
Golden ratio :
- Is a mathematical ratio.
- Commonly found in nature
- It fosters organic and natural-looking compositions that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
- Creating and appreciating a sense of beauty through harmony and proportion.
- Provides a sense of artistry.
- A useful guideline for determining dimensions of the layout.
- Simple way to apply the Golden Ratio is to set the dimension to 1:1:618

We start doing our task (collage) refer to the pre-record video given from
Mr Fauzi.
