WEEK 3 : LECTURE
During this week's lecture, Mr Yusoff has introduced us to software,
Adobe Photoshop.
We have learned some basic tools such as Lasso Tool, Pen Tool,
Layering, and Magic Wand Tool through the lecture "Introduction to
Photoshop". These tools are essential for this week's assignment,
digital collage design.

Selection and Layering

-
Tool Box
Adobe Photoshop provides several tool sets in the Toolbox, and you can expand the tool sets to reveal additional tools.

2. Lasso
- Allow you to draw and pinpoint specific areas of a document.
Figure 3.4 Lasso Tool
-
When you click on the Lasso Tool from the Toolbar, you will see
three different tool options:
1. Lasso
2. Polygonal Lasso
3. Magnetic Lasso
Figure 3.5 Right-click of Lasso Tool
- Great to use with a graphic tablet because it is similar to a pencil.
- Unlike a mouse or trackpad, a graphic tablet can give a better flow when drawing and making selections.

Mr Fauzi also let us watched a youtube video to understand
composition.
3. Pen Tool
- Creating a path from scratch, the pen tool is the most common option.
- Pen tool is the way that you add points and the way you drag the tool as you create the points determines how they will look.
- To create extremely precise shapes and paths, using manually placed anchor points.
- The pen tool was not natively made as a "selection tool".

During lecture, Mr Fauzi encourage us to play a game called Biezer
Game. It is a game that can help us adapt to the pen tool that we
usually used in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustration.

4. Layering
- Diffrent images stacked on top of each other.
- Can use each layer without affecting another one to make adjustments.
- Together they form one final image.
Figure 3.13 Example of layer at Adobe Photoshop
- The advantage of using Layers is that you can save a Adobe Photoshop file with all the layers included.
- Can use layers for non-destructive editing. Adjustments in Photoshop will never destroy the original image.
- The layers contain all the extra information and/or images you want to add to the original file.
Mr Fauzi also let us watched a youtube video to understand on how to
open image as layers in Adobe Photoshop.
WEEK 3: TUTORIAL
During tutorial session, Mr Fauzi let us watch his tutorial videos about creating digital compositions by using Photoshop. In the videos, he demonstrated using the tools of Photoshop.
Video 3.3 Composition Studies video-Pen Tool
We have watched the video about Composition Studies - Digital Collage that was
created by Mr Fauzi. In this video, Mr Fauzi demonstrated cropping out the
collage elements by using the tools like Pen Tool and Magic Wand. He has shown
us the whole process of composing the composition for the digital
collage.
