WEEK 4 : LECTURE

In this week's lecture, Mr Fauzi conducted lecture, Introduction to Photoshop Part 3, about Adjustment Layer and Filter in Photoshop this week.

Week 04 Lecture Note

Lecture Note Week 04:

Adjustment Layers are a group of non-destructive image editing tools that add colours and tonal adjustments to an image, which can be edited, discarded or restored to the original image.

When adding an adjustment layer to your image, a new layer will appear over your image and a Properties panel specific to the type of adjustment you’ve selected will pop up. The Properties panel will allow you to modify your adjustment layer, which in turn will modify your image.

Filters are tools to enhance varieties of an image by changing color, adding blur or creating new effects to the image.

Mr Fauzi also has provided us a video link to understand the photo filter trick in Adobe Photoshop.

WEEK 4 : TUTORIAL

During tutorial session, Mr Fauzi has shared us some demo video in helping us to work with adjustment layers and filters. I found that those video are very useful when I was working with the adjustment layers and filters on my digital collage task.

The above video share about how to remove background in Adobe Photoshop using pen tool.

The above video share about how to add an adjustment to a single layer in Adobe Photoshop.

In this video, we learned how we can fix skin tone using Curve Adjustment Layer in Adobe Photoshop.

Working Progress:

After seeing all the videos that provided by Mr Fauzi, I started to work on my digital collage. This time, I tried to add adjustment to single layer by adjusting the brightness and contrast of one layer and change the tone of one layer.

WEEK 4 : PRACTICAL

INSTRUCTION:
  1. Attach your best composition from WEEK 3 digital collage exercise below.
  2. Using the same Photoshop file, improvise your WEEK 3 digital collage into WEEK 4 by using Adjustment Layers & Filters on Photoshop.
  3. Explain what you’ve learned in the description section.

Week 03- Pen Tool Exercise (Best composition)

Figure 4.13  Best composition from last week exercise

Description:
The arrangement of this collage is based on the lecture notes provided by the teacher last week. There are three main aspects I want to convey through it: white space, minimalistic style, and a relatively simple layout.

Week 04- Adjustmet Layers and Filters

Figure 4.14 Final Outcome

Description:
When I adjust the photos, I first enhance their contrast because in their original state, they appeared quite flat and lacked any prominence. To make the photos stand out more, I applied a purple-toned filter, which gave the entire image a very vivid and distinctive color.
